With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of William "Billy" Joseph Anthony on January 12th, 2025, at his home in Medicine Hat, Alberta, at the age of 61 years. Billy was born on June 25th, 1963, in St. John's, Newfoundland, the beloved son and fifth of eight children born to Anna Maria Anthony and Robert Melbourne Anthony and beloved step-son of Gerald Dennis Blundon. In the 1970's, the Anthony family settled in Brooks, Alberta, where Billy grew up. He married Patricia Geraldine Lundgren, on March 19th, 1983, and they raised two daughters together. A jack of all trades, Billy worked in various industries, including Borden Insulation, Champion Boats (building boats in Kelowna), and local vineyards. He was a hardworking and determined man. Billy faced life's challenges with resilience. Later in life, Billy relocated to Medicine Hat to live with his sister, Mary, after suffering a diabetic coma. Mary and family cared for him while he worked through his rehabilitation. Billy's willpower and determination allowed him to make an impressive recovery, and he was able to live independently, with the love and support of his family. He loved fishing, collecting things that brought him joy, woodworking, and weightlifting, as well as simple joys such as spending time with family and helping others in his community. Billy found companionship in his dog, Harley, who was always at his side. We find comfort knowing that he will be with his best friend once again. Billy leaves memories of a life that was lived with determination, courage and tenacity in the face of health problems that were disabling; a meeker person might have given up on life. Billy chose to continue to live life and bring joy to his family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Anna Maria and Robert Melbourne Anthony; stepfather, Gerald Dennis Blundon Sr.; mother-in-law, Emma Lundgren; father-in-law, Bernhard Lundgren; brothers, James John Anthony, Robert Melbourne Anthony the second and Lawrence Anthony; nephews, Robert Melbourne Anthony the third and Charles Benjamin Anthony and sister-in-law, Connie Anthony. Billy is survived by his daughters, Natashia Emma Anthony and her children, Joseph Anthony, Destiny Anthony, Emma Angers, Shawn-David Angers and great grandson, Macklyn Angers and Ann Marie Mudliar and her children, Alandra Anthony and Xio Anthony; siblings, Doris (Bob) Anthony, Patrick Anthony, Mary Anthony and Gerald Blundon and numerous nieces and nephews. Billy will be remembered for his big heart, his honesty, his helping hand, and his love for his family and friends. In memory of Bill, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Canadian Diabetes Association, 1300 – 522 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario   M5G 2R5.
