It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William Howard Prentice (Bill) Prentice, who passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, in Brooks, at the age of 83, with his close family by his side.  Bill was born on May 16, 1942, in Outlook, Saskatchewan and grew up on the farm in Macrorie, Saskatchewan.  After completing his schooling, he met the love of his life Shirley Burchell of Dinsmore SK., and they were married June 6, 1964.  In April 1966 Bill and Shirley moved to Brooks, to start his career at the Town of Brooks.  Bill started as Town Shop foreman and eventually became operations manager.  After Bill retired he served as City Councillor from 2007 to 2025.  Bill will be remembered for his quick and witty sense of humour and generosity volunteering for many organizations in the community.  He loved his horse and wagon and spent many hours riding through town.  Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife Shirley Prentice of 61 years; son Paul Prentice (Tara) of Brooks; daughter Corla Prentice (partner Al Cyr) and his beautiful granddaughters, Breanna (Kadin) Smith, Tenille (Isaak) De Vries and great granddaughter Kaizza De Vries all of Medicine Hat, AB.  Bill was predeceased by his son Grant Prentice, brother John and his parents Violet and Bud Prentice.  He will also be fondly remembered by extended family members and many close friends.  Especially his dog Charlie.  His family wishes to sincerely thank all the doctors, nurses and staff of the Brooks Health Center and The Long-Term Care unit for the exceptional care he received.  In lieu of flowers, family and friends if so desire, please donate directly to the Brooks and District Health Foundation or the Cancer Society.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 13, 2025 at the Heritage Inn and Convention Centre, Brooks.
