Wilfred Wayne MacKinnon of Brooks, Alberta was born on April 13, 1944 in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia to parents John and Veronica Mackinnon. Wayne was one of eleven. At an early age Wayne left Nova Scotia and eventually found himself in Brooks, where he worked various jobs and finally landed on becoming a meticulous carpenter. When he found the time Wayne enjoyed playing his guitar, reading books, tending to his acreage, and spending time with his family. Wayne had a passion for old cars and would often be found working on them or reading about them. While residing in Brooks, Wayne met his wife Dianne Redelback, who he spent 50 years with. Together they raised four children: Melanie, Shawn, Greg, and Dawn. Wilfred loved the companionship of his many Germany Shepherds through his lifetime. Wilfred passed away in Medicine Hat, Alberta on Sunday November 01, 2025 at the age of 81 years. Wayne is predeceased by his parents, John and Veronica Mackinnon, wife Diane Mackinnon, and daughter Melanie Dillman. He is survived by his sister Sharon Laush; brother Terry Mackinnon; children, Shawn Schuh (Sherrie Schuh), Greg Schuh (Holly Robinson) and Dawn Mackinnon; son-in-law Deryk Dillman; grandchildren, Samantha Schuh, Davis Dillman, Jessica Dillman, Doria Self (Jordie Self), Breanne Schuh and Ryley Schuh and great grandchildren, Lakylon Mokelky, Hudson Mokelky, Ryatt Self, and Wrenley Self. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A private family service to be held.
