She worked for Galbraiths Dry Cleaners for many years. Upon retirement, she and Melvin moved back to Valerie's home town of Kipling. Valerie was happy to be near her family and she made friends and became involved in the community there. She continued her involvement with the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 6 in Kipling. Melvin passed away in 2010. Valerie was predeceased by her husband Melvin; her parents, Gerrond and Ellen Sproat as well as her brother Gerald Sproat. She was also predeceased by nephew in law Ron Balogh as well as by members of Melvin's family. Valerie will be lovingly remembered by her brother Lorne (Pat) Sproat; niece Dana Sproat; nephew Shane (Tracy) Sproat; as well as by great nephew and nieces Quinten Sproat (Julie), Juel Sproat (Nolan), Sarah Sproat and Brynn Sproat. Valerie kept this poem in a her keepsakes and the family would like to share it with you:

The Trinity Snowman

When you see a snowman Three snowballs round, He is reminding you That in God, Three in One are found.

The bottom reminds us of God the father. Our strong rock and foundation, The Creator of all living things, People, tribes and nations.

The middle shows us God the Son With His arms spread open wide. Who died on the cross for each of us Our sins Jesus' blood did hide.

The head reminds us of God the Holy Spirit Who is our counselor and friend, He speaks to our hearts and minds Transforming us in the likeness of Him.

So when you see a snowman, In the midst of all the wintertime fun, Listen carefully and he'll tell you, "Remember God is Three in One"
