Robbin Lee Colbens of Brooks, loving wife of the late Lloyd Colbens, passed away in Brooks on Friday, July 11th, 2026 at the age of 72 years. Robbin was born on November 17th, 1953 to Russell and Arvie Jones in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the second oldest of five children. Robbin grew up independent, strong-willed, goofy and generous, all attributes she carried into adulthood. Robbin had her first and only child Kristine at the age of 17 years and even at such a young age, Robbin considered her daughter her purpose in life and was determined to do right by her. During her marriages, time as a single parent and the years that followed, Robbin consistently put her daughters' needs before her own. During a vacation in Mazatlán, Mexico, Robin met a farmer from Tilley, Alberta, who became the love of her life, Lloyd Colbens. In 1989, Robin immigrated to Canada to marry and share her life with Lloyd. Kristine would follow her to Canada, living only 20 minutes away to start her own family 4 years later. Robbin was predeceased by her loving husband Lloyd and parents, Russell and Arvie Jones. She is survived by her daughter, Kristine Tancowny (Clint); grandchildren; Sydney (Eric) and Grace; siblings, Linda Bauman (Boe), Michael Jones, Barb Narawa and Carol Baker (John), along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends whom she all cherished as they were family. Robbin, with her humour, kindness and all that she was that cannot be easily expressed through words, will be dearly missed. A private family service will be held. In memory of Robbin, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to either Special Olympics, Brooks, 272 Uplands Avenue, Brooks, Alberta TR1K1 or Brooks Animal Protection Agency, 415 – 1st Avenue West, Brooks, Alberta T1R 1B2.
