Rita Rosamond
Dolter
Jul 28, 1925 — Sep 12, 2025
Brooks
Rita Rosamond Dolter of Brooks, beloved wife of the late Raymond Dolter, passed away in Brooks on Friday, September 12th, 2025 at the age of 100 years. Mom was born on July 28th, 1925 in Domremy, Saskatchewan to Alphonse and Alvina Georget the 4th child of 5 siblings. Born with a twin brother that died at birth. Mom weighed one pound. As small and fragile as she was, she was kept alive in a shoe box, placed in the warming oven of a wood stove, on the family farm. That was a sign that she was a fighter and would go on to live to be 100 years old. The family lived through the depression and WWII then moved to New Westminster, BC, that is where she met a handsome young soldier, Ray Dolter. They were married in 1948 and had their children Keith and Heather. As dad was a farm boy, from Saskatchewan working in a plywood mill was not for him we moved to Alberta, where they purchased a farm in 1971 close to Tilley. They resided there until 1997, when they moved into Brooks. Mom loved the farm life but helped out working at IGA and Newbrook Lodge and eventually left that to help dad on the farm. They loved to work together, she was always happy and eager to pitch in. Their life was a good one and enjoyed the company of their neighbours for coffee, a game of cards and visiting. Mom's real joy was her grandchildren, Ashley, Barrett and Jayme and great grandchild Lucas (Peeshoo) all of them loved to spend time with Grandma and never missed an opportunity to do so. Dad passed away in 2005. Mom continued to live at her Park Hilton condo, surrounded by good friends. As her heath was starting to fail, she moved to Orchard Manor in Sept. 2022 to April 2025, until her health deteriorated ending up in Sunrise Manor, until her passing. Mom was happy right to the end always happy to see all of us and never complained. We are very grateful that we were able to spend as much time as we did with her. As sad as we all are, we are happy she is at peace with dad and other family members that went before her. Mom, you will be missed. Rita is survived by her children, Keith (Debbie) and Heather (Rick) Underdahl; grandchildren, Ashley (Bruce), Barrett (Sheri) and Jayme; great grandchildren, Lucas, Laurin and Olivia; sister Terry and also nieces and nephews in AB, BC and Sask. We are all grateful to the caregivers at Orchard Manor, Brooks Health Centre and Sunrise Gardens, who did an awesome job taking care of her in a kind compassionate way … thank you all. A private service will be held at a later date to honor Rita's memory.
