Richard (Dick) Allen Pearson of Lake Newell Resort, age 88 years, passed away peacefully at the Brooks Health Centre on October 18th, 2025. Dick was born on September 29th, 1937, in Bassano, Alberta, the second youngest of five children born to Otto and Beulah Pearson. Dick grew up on the family farm in Bow City, where he developed a strong work ethic. Known for his mischievous spirit and sense of humour, he was always full of energy and curiosity. At just 14 years of age, Dick left school to operate heavy equipment. When he had saved enough money, Dick purchased his first of many gravel trucks, becoming an independent owner-operator. He later purchased the family farm from his parents and married the love of his life, Viola. Together, Dick and Vi worked tirelessly to build a full and rewarding life – raising their family, expanding their farmland, and growing their business. Dick will be remembered for his love of people and horses, his quick wit and practical jokes, his strong determination, and his deep devotion to family. Dick was predeceased by his parents, Otto and Beulah, his sisters Jean, Norma, and Loretta. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Viola; his children Kelvin (Catherine) and Christine; his grandchildren Garrett, Megara (Chad), Joseph, and Nicholas; his great-granddaughter Allison and her sister Ariel; his sister Anna Marie; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Dick will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. In accordance with his wishes, no funeral service will be held.
