Ray Charles LeCaine (O'kute) passed away in Medicine Hat, Alberta, September 14th, 2017 at the age of 54.  He was born on January 3, 1963 to Joe and Janice LeCaine in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan.  He was a member of the Wood Mountain Lakota Sioux Band in Wood Mountain, Saskatchewan.  In 1970, the family moved to Hill Spring, Alberta for a short time and then to Brooks in 1971.  At the age of 16, Ray went to work at Al's Transport.  With a boom in the oil patch, and the opportunity to make more money, he was lured in and loved it.  Ray started with Brooks Field Service and then tried the drilling rigs for a year, but went back to the Service Rigs.  He quickly worked his way up to driller and then Rig manager for One Tree Well Service, Roundup Well Service, and Star Well Service.  Ray was well like and respected by many people in the Oil Industry.  Ray then broke away on his own and went Consulting.  In this busy time of Ray's life, came the love of his life, born on May 1, 1999 his daughter Laci-Rae LeCaine.  After that, you couldn't talk to Ray without him mentioning his daughter.  The oil patch eventually slowed down and Ray went on to consult for a couple of different consulting companies.  Ray also loved hunting and fishing, and collecting rocks, which he enjoyed doing for many years.  Ray and his daughter Laci could be seen fishing and collecting rocks around many of the lakes in the Brooks area in her young years.  Ray is survived by his daughter Laci-Rae LeCaine, her mother Joyce Primeau, his granddaughter Kelci, his brother Joe LeCaine, (Barb Raglan), his sister Bernadette Lecaine-French, (Harvey French), his nephews, Lakota and Kashtin, his brother Phillip LeCaine, and numerous other relatives.  Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 23 at 11:00 AM from Smith Memorial Chapel.  Deacon Robert N.J. Wilson officiating.  Honorary Pallbearers will be daughter Laci-Rae and granddaughter Kelci.  Active Pallbearers will be everyone in attendance.  Interment to be held at Union Cemetery, Fort Macleod, Alberta on Monday, September 25 at 11:00 AM.
