Ralf Klaus
Krafft
Sep 17, 1943 — May 27, 2026
Brooks
With immense gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Ralf Krafft announces his passing on May 27, 2026, in Brooks, Alberta at the age of 82 years. Born in the shadow of war in Europe during WWII on September 17, 1943, Ralf's family came to Canada when he was 12 years old with little more than hope, determination and a dream of a better life. From those humble beginnings, he went on to build a remarkable life defined by hard work, friendship, and fun. He proudly lived the Canadian dream, building his business, The Clothes Line, that remained one of the great loves of his life. He never dreaded going to work a day in his life and was happiest when connecting with people and creating opportunities. Outside of work, Ralf embraced life fully. He loved rock music, fast cars, motorcycle trips, boating, time at the lake, and winters in Mexico surrounded by family and friends. With his charisma and gift for friendship, he collected lifelong friends wherever he went. A longtime member of the local Kiwanis Club, he valued both the organization's contributions to the community and the close friendships formed over the years. He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Maxine Krafft; his daughter Marcy Krafft; son-in-law Tony McGrath; grandchildren Katie Hiscock (Jeremy); Dan McGrath (Claire); great-grandchildren, Chloe Hiscock, who was the apple of his eye; and Teddy Hiscock, who brought joy to his life in his final years. He was predeceased by his parents, Friedel and Fritz Krafft, and his lifelong best friend and cousin, Herb Wetteskind, who was like a brother to him. The family is especially grateful for the many years spent together making cherished memories at the lake and in Mexico. He will be remembered for his zest for life, many great stories and the lasting impact he had on everyone who knew him. We are deeply grateful to the teams at Brooks Health Centre and Arthur J. Child Cancer Centre for caring for him with dignity, compassion, and respect, and for the comfort they provided to our family. In memory of Ralf, if friends so desire, tributes may be made directly to Brooks Animal Protection Service, Box 86, Brooks, Alberta T1R 1B2. A Celebration of Life will be held in Brooks in the fall of 2026.
