MaryAnn Wells of Bassano, beloved wife of the late Daniel Lawrence Wells, passed away peacefully in Bassano on Sunday, September 23 rd , 2018 at the age of 88 years. MaryAnn was born on March 17 th , 1930 in Richmond, Saskatchewan and was the only girl of seven. She grew up in the Richmond area, later Patricia, Alberta and then Buffalo, Alberta. MaryAnn married Dan Wells in 1960 and raised her three girls in Bassano. After Dan passed away in 1989, she lived in Victoria, British Columbia for several years, before returning to Bassano to live out her golden years at the Playfair Lodge. When her girls were young, MaryAnn was a bookkeeper and hairdresser, and ran the Bassano Hotel Restaurant and the Gulf Restaurant. She knitted prolifically and grew a beautiful garden. After Dan retired, they travelled extensively in their motorhome to Northern Canada and the Western U.S.. MaryAnn loved visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, dinners at Sharon's, reading and the Christmas season. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dan Wells; parents, Joseph and Perpetua Getz; brothers, John, Phillip, Joseph, Frank, and Peter; sister-in-law, Josephine Getz and brother-in-law, Ken Wells. MaryAnn leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Sharon Wells (Dennis Hunt) of Bassano, Brenda (Carl) Neufeld of Victoria, and Florence(Bruce) Pillar of West Kelowna; brother, Christopher Getz of Medicine Hat; grandchildren, Danielle (Chris), Ashley (Luke), Anna-Marie, Leigh (Cindy), Matthew, Christopher (Fyon), Kyle (Emily), Britainnie (Colby) and Zoe (Nolan); great-grandchildren, Shea, Carleigh, Alexa, Olive, Isla, Eik, Byron, Jorja, Samantha, Danielle, Jaydon, and Tristan; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Tyler and Marjorie Wells and numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. Our thanks and gratitude to Bassano Hospital doctor, nursing and support staff for their kindness and support during mom's passing. A private family service was held.
