Marion Agnes
Freimuth
Feb 20, 1946 — May 9, 2026
Rainier
With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Marion Agnes Freimuth of Rainer, AB, on May 9, 2026, at the age of 80. Marion was born in Medicine Hat, AB, on February 20, 1946, alongside her best friend and twin sister, Marlyne. She grew up in and around Medicine Hat, where she also received her education. On September 21, 1963, Marion married the love of her life, Albert Freimuth. Together they welcomed three children—Andrea, Kyle, and Tanya. As a family, they enjoyed camping, fishing, and countless hours in the kitchen, where Marion was always eager to pass along her skills and love of cooking. Over the years, the family lived in Maple Creek, Medicine Hat, Tilley, and eventually made their home in the Rainer area. Marion spent many years working as a cook in various restaurants and even operated her own venues from time to time. Alongside her passion for cooking, she built a remarkable 47‑year career as a school bus driver before retiring. In her younger years, she enjoyed curling, and in later years she rarely missed watching a game—family plans were often made around when the curling match would end. She also loved a good game of crib and made sure to be in town every Wednesday to play, even travelling as far as Mayerthorpe for a tournament. Marion was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Martha Kurpjuweit; her sister Alethea Wutch; her twin sister, Marlyne Houston; her husband, Albert Freimuth; her daughter, Andrea Freimuth; and her grandson, Devin Saunders. To cherish her memory, Marion leaves behind her children Kyle (Paula) Freimuth and Tanya (John) Saunders; her 7 grandchildren Tyffany, Tyler (Ariel), Jesse (Natalie), Zandra, Daphne, Dustin (Krisy), and Cody (Madi); as well as 19 great‑grandchildren and 2 great‑great‑grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Bea and Edna, along with numerous nieces and nephews. A cherished mom, grandma, great‑grandma, and sister, Marion touched the lives of everyone who knew her with her kindness, humour, and unwavering strength. A Celebration of Life will be held to honour her memory on Saturday, May 23 at 2:00 PM from the Prairie Pioneers Center, 420 1st Ave W, Brooks, AB. Family and friends are warmly invited to join us in remembering Marion, sharing stories, and celebrating a life so deeply loved.
