Marie Joan
Schuett
May 6, 1954 — Apr 12, 2026
Brooks
With extreme sadness, we share that Marie Joan Schuett passed away suddenly on April 12, 2026, at Brooks Hospital, after a long and determined fight with COPD. Marie was born on May 6, 1954, in Brooks, Alberta, to Cliff and Audrey Redelback. Three years later, the family was completed with the arrival of her brother, Garth. Some of her fondest childhood memories were simple ones—Sunday drives with the family, always ending with ice cream. Marie married Reinhold on April 13, 1971, and together they built a life centered around family—just one day short of celebrating 55 years of marriage. They welcomed their son Cody, followed by their daughter Carla. Marie found great joy in raising her children, but the loss of Carla in 2011 took half her heart. Her family continued to grow, and she was overjoyed when Cody married Vanessa, warmly welcoming her into the family. Marie's pride and love extended deeply to her grandchildren—Brennen, McKenzie, Grace, and Stone. Her family was her passion, and you would not want to get between them. Marie was strong-willed, loyal, and quietly competitive, and she approached life with grace and compassion. That competitive streak showed itself in bowling with her parents, playing games with friends, and on the golf course—where she enjoyed every minute. She had a natural sense of style, evident in the home she created and the care she put into her yard and garden. She valued her friendships deeply and was known as a loyal and dependable friend. Marie and Reinhold enjoyed traveling together and saw a large part of the world during their healthier years. One of her last wishes was to take the entire family on a cruise—a plan that brought a genuine smile to her face in her final year. A Family Graveside will be held. Her strength, loyalty, and love for family will not be forgotten. Marie will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew her. The family would like to thank Dr. E. Van Der Linde and his staff for their exemplary care, and the Alberta health care system for all they did.
