Maria Conceicao Amorim Noronha of Brooks, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on Tuesday, November 3 rd , 2020 at the age of 82 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. Maria was born on March 6 th , 1938 in Santo Antao, Sao Jorge, Acores, Portugal and was the oldest of fourteen children. She married Alvaro Augusto Noronha and immigrated to Canada, in 1961. They first lived in Lathom and then settled on the farm in Rosemary, where she immersed herself in raising her family . After moving to Brooks, many would recognize Maria's smiling face from her years at Walmart, where she thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people and helping any way she could, even with advice and hugs! Mom always appreciated the simple pleasures of life and the beauty of nature. An avid gardener, she immensely enjoyed time spent in her yard, tending her flower gardens, and watching the wildlife which often passed through. She always noticed the little details of nature, marveling in God's creations. Mom was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, faith was a significant part of her life and she touched and influenced the lives of many throughout her journey. Mom deeply loved her family and genuinely enjoyed her grandchildren. She often remarked that she lived for her children, and raising her family was the best part of her life. Maria will be greatly missed by her family; son, Fernando (Charlotte); daughters, Teresa (Kevin) Slorstad, Rosalia and Lucinda; grandchildren, Corey (Jessica), Vicki, Thor, Abbey and Zac; great granddaughter, Summer; sisters, Fatima, Isabel (Ilidio) De Melo, and Manuela; brothers, Lisuarte (Lisia) and Fernando (Leontina) and numerous nieces and nephews. A Private Family Mass will be Celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rev. Marino Infante Celebrant. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery. In memory of Maria, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 511 4 th Street West, Brooks, Alberta T1R 0E5. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Brooks Health Centre and Sub-Acute for the care that was received.
