Kenneth Raymond
Smith
Jan 22, 1950 — Jun 3, 2026
Brooks
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Raymond Smith of Brooks, loving husband of Brigitte Smith, on June 3, 2026, in Brooks at the age of 76 years. Ken was born on January 22, 1950, in Bracken, Saskatchewan to Raymond and Vickie Smith. He grew up in Rolling Hills, Alberta, where he learned the value of hard work and dedication from an early age. As a young man, he began trucking alongside his father, a career and lifestyle that reflected his strong work ethic and commitment for his family. Ken was a man who could fix almost anything. He was happiest when helping others, whether repairing something, lending a hand, or sharing his knowledge and skills. His generosity, kindness, and willingness to help will be remembered by all who knew him. He enjoyed driving his truck, hunting with his buddies, crafting knives, camping and fishing, and exploring the mountains. He especially treasured the time spent with his children and grandchildren. Ken was predeceased by his parents, parents-in-law, Sieg and Heidi Wetteskind, brother Darrell, sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Garry Hofmann, brother-in-law Herb Wetteskind, and also his precious grandchildren, Joseph and Katherine Fleck. He leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Brigitte, his daughters, Lori (Zed) Noel, and Tina (Mike) Fleck, son Kelly, grandchildren, Ari, Elijah, Avian, and Canaan, brothers Richard (Lisa), Lynden (Tonia), Byron (Janey), Brent (Sue), Elwood (Tammy), Garth (Starla), Leighton (Lilianne), sisters-in-law Jan Wetteskind and Kathy Smith, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ken's legacy lives on through the family he loved and the friendships he cherished. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Brooks Health Centre for the compassionate care, comfort, and support they provided during Ken's final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Prairie Rose Hospice Palliative Care Society, 440 3 Street East, Brooks, Alberta T1R 0X8 or to the Canadian Cancer Society https://cancer.ca/en/ways-to-give/personal-donation
