Kendel Scott Simpson
25 September 1964 – 25 December 2024
With full hearts and deep gratitude, we share the passing of Kendel Scott Simpson, fondly known as Dad, Scott, Scotty, and Scooter. He left this world on December 25, 2024, at the age of 60 in Edmonton, Alberta, with a legacy of love, integrity, and adventure.
Born in Cornwall, Ontario, Scott was a determined and resourceful spirit, standing up for what he believed in and inspiring others to do the same. He was a relentless seeker—of knowledge, of experiences, of connection. Whether through his love of genealogy, his passion for travel, or his talent for cooking meals that brought people together, he lived with a sense of purpose and curiosity that will never fade.
Scott had a way of making life richer for those around him. He never let you leave his space without fixing something, offering to feed you, and sending you off with a big hug and a laugh. His phrases—like, "Ambrosia!" at the first bite of something delicious or encouraging us all to "Eat like pythons!" when indulging in meals made together—became part of the fabric of our memories with him. He was the guy who knew how to solve a problem, who encouraged pros and cons lists for big decisions, and who always found a way to help.
His dedication to justice and doing what he believed was right shaped both his personal and professional life. Over the years, he served in many roles, from Alberta Peace Officer to Occupational Health and Safety Lead Investigator, from entrepreneurial locksmith to a Captain in the Canadian Forces, and even a brief stint as Mayor for the small town of Rosemary that we all had a chance to experience. Through it all, he built lasting friendships, making connections wherever he went. His presence brought a sense of assurance—if Scott was there, things were going to be okay.
Above all, his greatest pride and joy were his children: Melissa, Savannah, Dallin, and Bryce. To them, and to the many people who knew and loved him, his legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the unwavering love he shared.
To honour Scott, we invite you to celebrate his life in the best way possible—by cherishing the memories you had together, laughing at the stories experienced, and carrying forward his spirit of generosity and care. His children will be honouring his memory privately in a way that reflects his love for travel and meaningful experiences.
