It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Papa, Brother and Uncle, Julius Snyders, of Brooks, Alberta, on March 16, 2026, at the age of 78. Julius was born on November 10, 1947, in Hardenberg, Netherlands. His family eventually made their way to Canada and planted their roots in Brooks, where he remained until his passing. On February 17, 1968, Julius married the love of his life, Marie. Together they built a life filled with dedication, resilience, and deep connection, raising their children Cody and Shelley. Julius worked at Snyders Auto Wreckers and went on to work primarily as a welder for many companies, including Uniflex, Rebound and EID before eventually becoming self-employed. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and the kind of skill that meant he could fix just about anything. He was deeply involved in his community, serving as previous member of the Brooks Flying Club and proudly being part of the Cassils community. Julius had a passion for the outdoors and simple pleasures. He loved flying, hunting, fishing, working with horses, and spending time reading. He especially enjoyed long prairie drives, evenings around the campfire at Green Acres, and coffee with friends. He was happiest tinkering in his shop or spending time on the little acreage he and Marie built together. Julius will be remembered as a man larger than life—outspoken, genuine, and never afraid to share his opinion. He was hardworking, dependable, and always welcomed visits from friends and neighbors. His presence, strength, and character will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his parents, Jan and Gerda Snyders; his in-laws, Jens and Selma Jensen; his brother John Snyders and his son, Cody Snyders. Julius is lovingly remembered by his wife, Marie; his daughter Shelley and son-in-law Cam as well as his grandchildren Kaela, Kolby, Katlin, and Tysen all of whom made him incredibly proud. He is also survived by his brothers, Gerrit (Rhyl), Albert, and Ben (Susan), sister-in-law Shirley (John) and brother-in-law Raymond (Hazel) along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. In keeping with Julius's wishes, a small family service will take place at a later date. If friends so desire, they can make a donation directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 100, 119 – 14 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta   T2N 1Z6.
