John Charles (Chuck) Murphy born in Inverness, Scotland on July 18, 1938 passed away in Brooks, AB., on August 8 th , 2017 at the age of 79 years. He arrived in Canada in 1951 at the age of 15, living in Lousana. It was here where he met the love of this life Darlene, marrying June 6 th , 1959, a marriage that would last 58 years! They settled in Calgary, where he completed his Mechanical education at SAIT. He was a Mechanic here for many years, where he and Darlene raised two sons, moving the family to Brooks in 1976. Here he worked in the Oilfield and in later years at the Horticultural Center, until his retirement. Chuck loved farming, raising cattle in the Cassils area where he enjoyed making his yard beautiful, twice receiving the Rural Beautification Award. He was always occupied fixing machinery and helping his sons and grandchildren with their projects. Chuck passed on his love of the outdoors and mechanical aptitude to his boys and any others, fortunate enough to work with him. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Ann and his sister Jeanette. Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Darlene; their sons Calvin (Judy) and Wayne (LaRae); 9 grandchildren, John, Les, Jason, Jared, Lee, Dillon, Kasey, Leah and Brett; 5 great grandchildren; his sister Beryl Love; brother Donald Murphy; sister-in-law Delores (Reg Davis); brother-in-law Donald Lee and numerous nieces and nephews. A private family service was held in his honour. If friends desire, memorial tributes can be made in Chuck's name to the Brooks Kidney Campaign, Bag 300 Brooks, Alberta T1R 1B3.
Cremation is entrusted to Smith Funeral Home Ltd. and Crematorium, Brooks.
