John
Kazimir
Jun 17, 1938 — Jul 31, 2025
Brooks
John Kazimir, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully in his sleep in Brooks on Thursday July 31, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on June 17, 1938, in Tilley, Alberta, John lived a life rooted in hard work, laughter, and spending time with family. On November 20, 1965, John married Jean Kazimir, in Brooks. Together, they built a home where they raised their children and created countless cherished memories. They remained in the family home until the last few years. John's career was marked by dedication and grit. He operated heavy machinery until launching his own gravel trucking business. A decade later, he joined the Eastern Irrigation District, where he worked until his retirement. From then on, he embraced his favorite role—full-time babysitter and best friend to his grandchildren. John's passions were hunting, fishing, camping, and spending quality time with family. He was always game for a practical joke and loved teasing his grandkids with playful nicknames and quirky birthday gifts. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Jean, his four children, Bill (Heather) Kazimir, Marilyn (Merlin) Olson, Dawna Kazimir (Serge Comeau), and Wendy (Jim) Kitagawa; his sister Emily Fukuda and numerous nieces and nephews. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Justine (Dustin), Jonathan, Ryan (Jade), Brianne, Graeme, Everly, and Emilia—along with his adorable great-grandchildren, who brought him endless delight. John is predeceased by his infant son, two infant grandsons, his parents Josef and Zuzanna, his in-laws Bill and Mima Kirby, sisters-in-law Connie Anthony and Diedre Lindsay, and brother-in-law George Fukuda. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his stories, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 9 at 2:00 PM from Smith Memorial Chapel. Rev. David Bradford officiating. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery.
