With profound sadness, we share the news of the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Mrs. Jody Karen Lewis. Surrounded by her loving family, Jody passed this life peacefully on September 3rd, 2025, in Brooks, Alberta. Born June 24th, 1953, in Calgary, Alberta, to Jack and Pauline Lowther. She later attended and graduated from Crescent Hights High school in Calgary, where she met the love of her life, Bob. The two were married August 31st, 1974, and recently celebrated 51 years together. Together they welcomed their son Michael, then a few years later their daughter, Christine, both of whom became the center of Jody's world. While raising their young family, Jody received the devastating diagnosis of Leukemia, with the grim prognosis it was unlikely she would live to see her 35th birthday. Unwilling to let her children grow up without a mother, Jody vowed to live as long as her children needed her. With unwavering strength, and the support of her devoted husband and close family, she fought and won. Jody went on to live a life full of love and laughter, beating the odds again and again. When she celebrated her 70th birthday, Jody credited her faith and deep love for her family, as the source of her strength. Jody was the heart and soul of her family. Known for her compassion, her warmth, and unconditional love, she was that place of refuge for her children and grandchildren. Jody believed in the power of laughter. She stressed the importance of being able to laugh, because life is hard enough, so do it with a smile on your face and laughter in your heart. Jody found humor in almost every situation, from the mundane, to big life events, to getting lost and even sad situations we sometimes find ourselves in. So, laugh a little more and share that joy with others. Jody is survived by her husband, Robert; her children Michael (Alexis), and Christine (Jason); her grandchildren, Madison, William, Wyatt, Brooklynn, and Garrett; her dear brother Donald (Diane) and sisters, Sandy Cheeseman, and Brenda Heristovics (John). She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date in Brooks. Family and friends are welcome to gather in remembrance of her beautiful life and lasting legacy.
