Jessica (Jessie) Mary Hillier of Brooks, beloved wife of the late Edgar Hillier, passed away at the Brooks Health Centre on Sunday, March 22nd, 2026, at the age of 80 years. Jessie was born in Lord's Cove, Newfoundland on January 13th, 1946, to Leonard and Lillian Hodge. She worked in Fortune, Newfoundland at the Fish Plant and when she moved to Brooks, worked at the Brooks Walmart for many years. Jessie loved and lived for her family; nothing gave her more joy than being a mom and grandmother. She was a fighter all her life, battling COPD in her later years, still working when most wouldn't. Jessie was strong, brave and beautiful…she was the most determined person you could ever meet. She loved to cook and loved her animals, especially dogs – Luna was a source of joy for her in her final years. Jessie will be fondly remembered as a hard worker, her interest in crime shows, knitting and for the love she had for her family and friends. "May Angels guide and welcome her to Heaven." No one deserves it more. She was predeceased by her husband Edgar, brothers, Len, George and Claude and sisters, Esther, Katherine and Emily. Jessie is survived by her children Jamie, George, Lillian, Claudia and Jonny; grandchildren, Cassandra and Cameron; brother Francis and sisters Magdlen and Lucy. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 1st at 1:00 PM from St. Mary's Catholic Church. Father Kelvin Chukwurah Celebrant.
