James Lindsay McKirdy of Brooks passed away in Brooks on Saturday, February 18 ^th , 2023 at the age of 59 years. Jimmy was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on May 28 ^th , 1963 to Lindsay and Gertrude McKirdy. He immigrated to Canada in 2010 and settled in High River. Jimmy moved to Brooks in 2014, following the flood, to be closer to his daughter Zoe and her family. He worked for several different companies while in High River and worked for Sequoia, after arriving in Brooks. Jimmy will be fondly remembered for his love of music (especially live music), food, movies and especially his grandkids, who he adored. He was a diehard supporter of his favorite football (soccer) team the Hearts, waking up at odd hours of the day to cheer them on, with the time difference being of little consequence. Jimmy will also be remembered for his sense of humour, always able to brighten other's days with his quick wit. He was predeceased by his father and best friend Lindsay Hally McKirdy. Jimmy is survived by his children, Zoe Jamieson and her husband Keith, John McKirdy and his wife Caity and Jenny McKirdy and her husband Steven; mother, Gertrude McKirdy; brother, Lee McKirdy and wife his Moira; 7 grandkids and numerous other family members, friends and coworkers.  In memory of James, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta,100-119 14 Street NW Calgary, AB    T2N 1Z6.
