Brooks
Jacqueline (Moy) Lester of Brooks, beloved wife of Kelly Lester, passed away suddenly in Medicine Hat on Friday, February 13, 2026, at the age of 68 years. Jackie was born on January 8, 1958, in Portsmouth, England and immigrated to Brooks as a child. She dedicated more than 30 years of her life to her work as a dental assistant, caring for countless patients with her gentle nature and warm smile and developing many lasting friendships. Jackie will be fondly remembered for her kindness, wit, and sense of humour. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and cared for, always ensuring that everyone around her was taken care of before herself. Her love for her family was the centre of her world. She was predeceased by her mother and stepfather, Eileen and Bob Asher, and by her father-in-law, Jack Lester. Jackie leaves to cherish her loving husband, Kelly Lester; her children, Nicole Brinsmead (Gavin) and their children Declan and Keenan; Kallie Freimark (Jaydee) and their children Isabelle and Emma; Robyn Salonka (Derek) and their children Grayson, Adelaide, and Wyatt; and Kayla McGowan. She is also survived by her loving brother, Michael; her step-siblings, Dan Asher (Kelly), Bob Asher (Joanne), and Chris Hulstein; mother-in-law Arlene Lester as well as many extended family members and dear friends. Jackie's love of watching her daughters compete in sports carried on to proudly cheering for her grandchildren, whom she loved and adored. She enjoyed camping, swimming, collecting frogs, and volunteering at her church. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family and her many good friends. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff at Brooks Hospital and Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for the kind and compassionate care Jackie received. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jackie may be made directly to Brooks Health Foundation, Bag 300, Brooks, Alberta T1R 1B3.
