Ivy Kathleen Tunstall of Brooks, Alberta (1931 – 2026 Obituary)

Ivy Kathleen Tunstall of Brooks, Alberta passed away on September 18, 2026, at the age of 95 years. Ivy was born in Macklin, Saskatchewan on July 26, 1931, to George and Amy Smith. She grew up in Evesham, Saskatchewan. Her father owned the general store and farmed, while her mother raised the children and worked in the store. She attended school in Evesham, Saskatoon and Stanraer for Grades 1-12. She then returned to Saskatoon and attended the University of Saskatoon to complete two years in Household Science and one year in Education. Upon completion of university, Ivy accepted a Home Economics teaching position in Bow Island in 1951, where she met and married John Edgar Tunstall on July 31, 1953. Ivy chose to stay at home and raise their two children, Gregory and Shelly. In the summer of 1974, they moved to Brooks as John accepted a position in the oil patch. Ivy was passionate about curling, fashion, an amazing cook and baker, enjoyed lifelong friendships, and loved her family, grand children and great-grandchildren. After 45 years of marriage, John passed away on May 31, 1999.

Ivy is survived by her children, Gregory (Andrea) of Deer Valley, SK and Shelly (Nolan) of Brooks; grandchildren Andrew (Becky), Jordan (Ashley) and Laura (Colin), Stephen (Alyssa) and Meghan (Anthony); and her great-grandchildren Sloane, Jules, Tristan, Brooklyn, Ethan, Stella, Sawyer, and Jace; her sister Carol and her brother Conrad (Loreen); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ivy was predeceased by her husband John, her parents Amy and George, and her sisters Joyce, Marlene and Myra.

A family service will be held at the Brooks Cemetery with Reverend Esther Crews officiating.
