(Alice) Helen Stewart passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2 ^nd , 2019 at the Bassano Health Center at the age of 97 years. Born at Burfield, Alberta on January, 12 ^th , 1922 the oldest child of Bernard and Helen Pask. After high school Helen went in training for a nurse graduating from the Holy Cross in 1944. Helen and Bud started their married life at Finnegan, Ab. running the store and elevator, until moving to Bassano in 1952, when they built the garage and coffee shop. Helen belonged to many clubs such as Kinettes and Royal Purple as well as serving terms on the Board and Session of Knox Presbyterian Church. She was a dedicated member of Bassano community and volunteered in many capacities. Helen was predeceased by her husband Bud, grandson Edward Sage and two brothers Jackie and Wally Pask. She is survived by daughter Lyne and husband Ken Sage of Hussar, Ab. and their children Dianne (Mark) Hayduk of Calgary and Val (Tim) Sandum of Hussar as well as son Ron and wife Jane of Victoria, Australia and their sons Dylan (Tash) and Erik (Leisa). She leaves behind 8 great grandchildren and 2 sisters Doreen Bate of Rivers, MB. and Betty Gall of Hanna, Ab. and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank staff at Bassano Hospital for the loving care in her last days as well as the many friends, neighbors and relatives who took the time to stop and visit. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 8 ^th at 2:00 PM from Knox Presbyterian Church, Bassano with lunch to follow at the Bassano Community Hall. Rev. Peter Baek officiating. Interment at Bassano Cemetery.
