Harvey Dan
Seely
Feb 6, 1944 — Mar 13, 2026
Millicent
Harvey Seely of Millicent, Alberta, embarked on his eternal journey to reunite with his beloved wife, Beatrice, on March 13, 2026, at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family. Harv was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, on February 6, 1944, to Anne and Leroy Seely. He grew up alongside four siblings: Ron, Bob, Carol and Marilyn. A job starting colts and working on the ranch for Jim and Bernice Westwick led him to meet—and later marry—the ranchers' daughter, Beatrice, on February 28, 1967. Their family blossomed with the birth of their first daughter, Jerri, and two years later their second daughter, Danelle. In 1973 they moved to their farm near Millicent. Harv juggled many responsibilities there, working tirelessly on the rigs. He started on the floor as a roughneck for Shelby Drilling but soon climbed the ranks to become a driller. Although an accident on the rig floor cost him his middle finger, he found the silver lining and often regaled friends and family with humorous tales of the mishap. After many years working on the rigs, he transitioned into a career as a drill bit salesman for Smith Tool. Later, he became a full-time farmer, cultivating a renowned herd of top-quality Quarter Horses. Harv and Bea traveled countless miles together in search of the best horses to add to their breeding program, and he took immense pride in the horses they raised and sold. His generous spirit and deep love for all animals inspired the creation of the Whispering Creek Petting Ranch. He was hard working and created a beautiful sanctuary for the animals that he and Bea openly shared with the public. The ranch also served as a wildlife rescue sanctuary, providing a haven for many unusual animals over the years. Any orphaned animal was guaranteed a second chance if it found its way into Harv's compassionate hands. A good fishing trip always ranked high on his priority list, as did a trip to the racetrack to cheer on his homebred racehorses—and even the occasional mud bog. In 2019, he lost his leg due to an aneurysm, which left him wheelchair-bound and led to his move to Orchard Manor in Brooks, and later to the Long Term Care Unit at the Brooks Hospital. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the amazing nurses, doctors, and staff at Orchard Manor and the Long Term Care Unit for their kindness, compassion, and care for Harv. Harv is survived by his daughters, Jerri Seely and Danelle Ulrich (Lance); (grandson Aaron); his brother Ron Seely (Clarise); and his sisters, Carol Johnson and Marilyn Fehr (Herb). As well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beatrice Seely; his mother, Anne; his father, Leroy; and his brother, Bob. Harv will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his quick sense of humor, his deep love for his family, and his compassion for animals. His legacy lives on in the land he loved, the horses he raised, the animals he rescued, and the many lives he touched along the way. . A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, July 21st at 2:00 PM from Jerri Seely's home, Blue sign 202063 Range Road 134, Millicent, Alberta.
