Gwynne (Mac) Stanley Maguire of Brooks, formerly of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, passed away at Sunrise Gardens in Brooks on Friday, January 21 ^st , 2022 at the age of 88 years. Mac was born August 21, ^st 1933 in Rydal Bank, Ontario to parents Percy and Ethel Maguire.  He grew up on a small farm in Wharncliffe, Ontario along with his three siblings.  Mac enjoyed his Bowling Leagues, Curling, coaching a Women's Softball League and was always proud of earning his Junior Masters in Bridge. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force at the age of 19 & ½ years. This led him to many, many places around the world, such as Borden and Knob Lake in Ontario and Cold Lake and Penhold in Alberta. Mac also was stationed in France, where Lonnie was born, in Germany and many other places. After serving 10 years in the Air Force, Mac continued in the Aircraft Maintenance field, but worked on helicopters instead of planes.  Again, this job took him to more places in Canada and Internationally. He worked in Africa for approximately 3 years, when Trish was a teenager. Mac lived in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania for approximately 30 to 35 yrs.  While working for Ag Rotors he met Ken Weary, a fellow employee.  Ken and his wife Marjorie became very good friends of Mac's. He was fortunate to have them in his life, especially in the last few years when Mac's health started to deteriorate. They looked after Mac like no one else could.  Ken and Marjorie packed Mac up and moved him twice in two years……Not an easy feat for sure. The family of Mac would like to thank this very special couple for being caring friends to Mac and assisting him when he needed it.  Finally, in August of 2020, right in the midst of COVID-19, Lonnie flew down to Pennsylvania to bring Mac to Brooks, where he would live out the remainder of his life. Mac was predeceased by his father in 1982 and his mother in 1986 and his son Brian in 2002. Mac is survived by his children, Kevin Maguire of Red Deer, Alberta, Kathryn McGuire of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Trish Maguire of Victoria, British Columbia, Lonnie Volesky of Brooks and Don (Cheryl) Cantelo of Summerside, Prince Edward Island; sisters, Shirley of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Lorna of Sault St. Marie, Ontario and Marie of Chesterville, Ontario; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
