Gordon John McDiarmid of Brooks, passed away in Brooks on Thursday, April 12 ^th , 2018 at the age of 53 years. Gordon was born on October 22 ^nd , 1964 in Nipawin, Saskatchewan to Leslie and Donna McDiarmid. He received his education in Carseland, Alberta and then Calgary, completing grade 10. Gordon married Ruth Brown on August 9 ^th , 1997 in Hanna, Alberta and they lived in Lethbridge, Alberta. Gordon served in the Canadian Forces and then worked for Maple Leaf Meat Packers, Plains Candy and a variety of other jobs throughout his life. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Moose Lodge. Gordon will be remembered for his willingness to always lend a hand, his fondness for children and his love of family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth Brown, parents Leslie and Donna McDiarmid, grandparents Gordon and Mary McDiarmid and John and Emma Sjodin. Gordon is survived by his siblings, David McDiarmid and his wife Fran, Mary Wilson and her husband David and Stanley McDiarmid and his wife Tracey; along with numerous niece, nephews and other family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 20 ^th at 2:00 PM from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brooks Ward. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery.
