Gordon Frederick Jones of Bassano, beloved husband of Nancy Lou Jones, passed away in Bassano on Wednesday, January 27 ^th , 2021 at the age of 85 years. Gordon was born at Holy Cross Hospital, in Calgary on October 27 ^th , 1935 to James and Ethel Jones. He grew up on a farm near Balzac, Alberta and attended Parkway School from grades 1 through 8, riding his favourite horse, Anna Belle, to school. Gordon graduated from Kathryn School and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1956. Once he returned from serving overseas, Gordon began training at SAIT to become a Journeyman Electrician. Gordon married Nancy Lou Day on June 18th, 1966, in Calgary. He began working for Calgary Power in 1967 and finished off his career with Trans Alta Utility, in 1991. Gordon was an active member in the Bassano community, serving on the Dr. Scott Apartment Board from 1979 to 1994, Bassano Town Council in the 1970's, President of the Big Country Shriners in 1990, member of the Bassano Masonic Lodge, for 50 years and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Gordon will be lovingly remembered for his love for his family, his political discussions and his dedication to the Shriners. He was predeceased by parents James and Ethel Jones; sisters-in-law, Myrtel Jones and Florence Lee and brothers-in-law Wayne Smillie and Fred Lee. Gordon is survived by his loving wife Nancy; daughter, Holly and her husband Chris; grandchildren, Heather (Eric) Kenny, Alison (Chris) Timms and Stewart Binnie; great grandchildren, Isabele, Alexis, Hailey, Kallie and Luke; sisters, Carol and Wilma (Brian) and brother Ron. In memory of Gordon, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation, 28 Oki Drive NW, Calgary, Alberta   T3B 9Z9. A Family Service will be held at Smith Memorial Chapel on Saturday, February 6th at 1:30 PM. Rev. Esther Crews officiating.
