It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria Leanne Schroeder on January 27, 2026, at the age of 57, after years of battling cancer with unwavering determination and courage. She departed peacefully at the Brooks Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. Gloria was born on March 14, 1968 in Calgary. Gloria was the heart of her home and family. She raised four children—Kendal (Tony), Braden (Jen), Avery, and Mac (Char)—in a happy, loving home, fostering a tight-knit crew of siblings. Gloria was married for 36 years to her best friend, Terry, who devotedly accommodated her ever-growing list of "blue jobs" and supported all of her DIY endeavors. Most importantly, Gloria was a devoted Gigi to Jackson (6), Olive (6), Evelyn (5), Ada (2), and baby Mayer. She lived for every moment spent spoiling and loving her grandchildren, keeping her home stocked with the best snacks and creating meaningful memories through crafting, playing outside, cuddling up with a movie, baking cookies, getting manicures, and everything in between. There was nothing Gloria loved more than being at home with her family—gathering over good food and simply spending time together. A close second was shopping, especially for her home or her grandchildren. Gloria's legacy lives on through her home, where every inch was thoughtfully curated, filled with family photos, and decorated to perfection. Gloria was known for her fiery spirit, witty sense of humor, and boundless passion for family. Her mothering often extended far beyond her own children to everyone in her orbit. Her energy, warmth, and charm will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her. Gloria is survived by her brother Stephen Skanderup (Judy), sister Joyce Rust (Harold), brother Curtis Skanderup (Tammy); her in-laws Ike and Eileen Schroeder, Ronnie Hamman (Brian) and Brent Schroeder (Rhian); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Ruth and Verner Skanderup; her brother-in-law Brad Schroeder; sisters-in-law Nancy and Angel Schroeder; and her niece Annelise Rust. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made directly to the Aarit Hok Pediatric Fund (AHPF), c/o Brooks and District Health Foundation, Bag 300, Brooks, Alberta   T1R 1B3.
