Gloria Jean Ion (Johnson) of Brooks, passed away peacefully in Medicine Hat Alberta at the age of 75 years. She was born in Maple Creek, SK on April 10 th ,1947. Gloria grew up and lived her life in the Brooks area. She was an active little girl and teen, enjoying time with her sisters and many beloved cousins. Her parents Helen and Tony Both played an incredibly important role in her life. She took great pleasure and pride in having the honour of caring for them throughout their lives and passing. She married her former husband, Laurence Ion and they had four children. Together they started an oilfield construction company to help provide a wonderful childhood for all of the kids.
Gloria was an extremely active mother chauffeuring her kids for hockey and figure skating and was an avid volunteer within the community. Gloria passed this value onto her children, and they are grateful for the lessons she taught them. Her family was the centre of her life, along with her A&W crew. Gloria is predeceased by her parents Helen and Tony Both, sister Rosemary Cyr, four brother in laws, and her beloved eldest daughter Sharra-Lee Ion. She is survived by her sister Shirley Gratrix; children, Toni-Marie Ion-Brown (Bruce), Tracy Ion- Sutherland (Lucas), and Brad Ion (Tracie). She was a proud grandmother and great grandmother to Brett, Walker and Logan Leveque, Jade Edwards, Decker, Jordie and Payton Ion, and great grandchildren, Blake Leveque and Aiyla Leveque. She had great love for her many nieces and nephews.
Her Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, November 17 th at 1:00 PM at the Duchess Hall. Attendees are encouraged to dress casually and wear their favorite jersey (Preferably Red). The family would like to thank all of our family and friends for their amazing support during this time.
