It is with great sadness that the family of Germaine Marie Rose Carlson, beloved wife of the late Donald Carlson, announces that she passed away on Tuesday October 27 th ,2020 at the age of 89 years. Mom was born on June 2 nd , 1931 in Minton, Saskatchewan to Gerard and Yvonne Belanger. Mom was the 3 rd of 14 children and there are 5 siblings still living. She is survived by her 6 children, Eileen (Rod) Schiffner of Turner Valley; Paul (Charlene) Zimmerman of Brooks; David (Maxine) Zimmerman of Calgary; Diane (Peter) Dengler of Calgary; Bebeanne (Peter) Faulkner of Calgary and Gerard Zimmerman; 17 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 1 due in January and 1 Great Great Grandaughter. Mom will also be remembered by her extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Gerard and Yvonne Belanger; her children's father Anton (Tony) Zimmerman; her husband Donald Carlson; granddaughter Nicole Zimmerman; great grandson Mackenzie Hegland and her 8 siblings. Mom raised her 6 children by herself and took care of the farm. She loved to sew, was a great cook and baker and loved to garden. She moved the family to Estevan, Saskatchewan in the 60's and in 1970, it was the big move to Calgary, Alberta, where she lived for 48 years. Mom loved to knit and crochet, her last projects were dish scrubbies, she was so proud of how many she could make in a day, she knit baby blankets and the last was slippers, oh so many slippers all to keep busy doing something. Son David said, "Mother has always been my mentor and so proud of her in keeping all our family together on her own which taught me great love and unselfishness. She was strong and stood up for what she believed in and all my children and grandchildren loved her. She will be deeply missed by all of us". Mom's last 2 years she lived with her son Paul and Charlene in Brooks and always said this was the best place for her to be. God saw her getting tired and she went peacefully in her sleep only 1 night in hospital. The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses in ER and on the unit at the Brooks Health Centre for their excellent care for Mom to keep her comfortable. Thankyou also to Dr. B Currin her family Doctor. At Mom's request there will be no funeral service.
