Ethel "Joan" Frank of Brooks passed away Sunday, September 15th, 2024 at the age of 89 years. Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, great grandmother, aunt and great aunt to her extensive family who will miss her. Joan was born to Archie and Blanche McKellar April 13th, 1935. She was raised on a farm just east of Brooks until the age of 9 when she moved into town. She took her schooling in Brooks and upon graduation began working at the Brooks Treasury Branch from 1952-1956. During that time, she met and married the love of her life, Donald Irvin Olson on May 27th, 1953. Don and Joan were blessed with four children and decided to relocate to an acreage in the community of Cassils in 1966. Joan lived her life devoted to her faith. She spent her days on the acreage caring for her children and enjoying the simple pleasures of a quiet rural life. Days spent endlessly tending her garden, filling her loved one's bellies with delicious food and filling their hearts with the sound of music. Joan was a skilled piano player and often led the hymns with her beautiful, harmonized singing. Joan suffered a stroke in 2015 and was cared for by the loving staff at Brooks Long Term Care. She often spoke of their kindness and how happy she was to be surrounded by such wonderful people. Joan was predeceased by her husband Don on April 3rd, 1974, and remarried Menno Frank on February 25th of 1975. Joan was also predeceased by her second husband Menno Frank, her brother Gordon McKellar, and many other friends and family who she believed would be waiting to greet her. Joan is survived by four children, Lori Wenzel, Colli Petersen, Kim Bosman and Cim (Tanya) Olson; 12 Grandchildren, Trista, Jordan (Jaclyn) and Kayla (Marc) Wenzel, Myles (Lindsay), Donni (Alicia), Chelsea (Matt) and Brian Petersen, Coltan (Rowan), Cordell, Caitlin (Brady) Bosman, Brooklyn and Tyson Olson and 4 great grandchildren, Cadence and Cale Wenzel, Alayna Petersen and Reuben Bosman; sister Jean Richmond, as well as numerous grandnieces and nephews, who were the light of her life. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 25th at 2:00 PM from Smith Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery. Luncheon will be served at Cassils Community Centre at 3:30 PM.
