Elizabeth Grace
Lynch
Sep 8, 1942 — Jul 31, 2026
Brooks
The family of Elizabeth Grace "Betty" LYNCH (nee BOYCE) are heartbroken to tell you of her passing on Friday July 31st, after a 10-year journey with dementia. She was 83 and resided at the Long-Term Care unit in the Brooks Healthcare Center. She was born in Claresholm, AB to John and Grace BOYCE and grew up in Nanton with her twin sister Margaret. After graduating from high school, Betty joined the nursing community in Alberta as an LPN, first working in Fort MacLeod. Subsequently she moved to Foothills Hospital in Calgary. While working there she met and married Greg Lynch in 1974, starting an adventure that included some 25+ years as the wife of an RCMP member. As a result of Greg's transfers Betty worked in hospitals in Grande Prairie, (where daughter Jana was born in 1976), Fort Saskatchewan, Rimbey, High Level, Peace River, Bassano and for the last few years of her working life, the Long-Term Care unit of Brooks Health Center. She met and made longtime friends along the way. Betty was predeceased by her parents John and Grace, and sister Margaret. She is lovingly remembered and missed by husband Greg and daughter Jana (Dustin), grandson Cameron (Ashlee), great grandchildren Carson & Charli, nieces Lara Gaede (Oldershaw) and family of Sydney Australia, Lisa Gaede (Fabian) and family of Vancouver BC and numerous other family members whom she was very special to. Of course, great grand dogs Tucker and Josie will miss her as well. Betty will be remembered by so many for her kindness, her love of golf, crafts, her thoughtfulness, decorating the house for every holiday and being an amazing mom and grandma. During Betty's dementia journey our family was able to care for her at home, under the wonderful care of Dr. Grobbelaar and PCN Fay Golding. We are grateful to the Home Care staff who became part of her daily routine and special caregivers Tammy and Megan Hodder. During the last months of her life, Betty had to be a resident of the Long-Term Care unit at the Brooks Health Center. Of much comfort to our family during this time was that several of the staff who cared for her had worked along side her in that very unit. We are grateful for the people there and care she received. We will have a Celebration of Her Life at a future date.
