It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward (Ed) Follett on Saturday, July 18th, 2026, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, after a short illness, at the age of 73 years. Ed was born in Buchans, Newfoundland on December 29th, 1952, to Edward and Frances Follett. He moved to Springdale, Newfoundland in 1969, then moved to Sudbury, Ontario where he started his career as an automotive body man. Ed moved to Lynn Lake, Manitoba to work as a miner. He moved back to Newfoundland in 1980.Ed became a proud entrepreneur, opening Ed's Ultramar, performing mechanical and autobody repair. In 1998, Ed moved to Brooks and worked as a mechanic until his retirement. He was a very dedicated and hardworking man and was a great provider for his family. Everyone who knew him was aware of his love for his family. Ed enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren whom he cherished. He had a passion for vehicles, new and old, and loved restoring antique cars. Ed also enjoyed travelling to tropical places. He was predeceased by his son Danny; parents, Edward and Frances; brother, Clayton; sisters, Eleanor, Joan and Judy; daughter-in-law, Kelsey; father-in-law, Lloyd and brothers-in-law Ken, Brendan, Roy and Richard. Ed leaves to mourn his wife Dianne; children, David (Mallory) and Stephanie (Terry); daughter-in-law, Julie; grandchildren, Maddison, Katie, Cooper, Holden, Teller, Emery and Felix; sisters, Bertha, Mary, Linda (Georgio), Wavey (Harvey), Rose, (Clayton), Lorraine (Bram) and Sheila; brothers, Cyril (Ada) and Bill (Marilyn); mother-in-law Evelyn; sisters-in-law, Cora, Ella (Eldon) and Tavis (Larry); brother-in-law Ewen (Shiela) and a large circle of extended family and friends. The family would like to thank the Brooks Health Centre Emergency Department and the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital Intensive Care Unit for their treatment of Ed. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 19th at 1:00 – 3:00 PM from the Heritage Inn and Convention Centre. In memory of Ed, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to either Canadian Cancer Society, 200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, Alberta T2E 2P5 or Kidney Foundation of Canada, 880 – 5160 Decarie Boulevard, Montreal, Quebec H3X 2A9.
