Edward (Ed) Maurer passed away in Brooks, Alberta on July 10th, 2025 at the age of 81 years. Born on February 20th, 1944, Ed was a proud, lifelong resident of Bassano, Alberta, a distinction he carried with great pride. Deeply committed to his community, Ed dedicated countless hours to service and volunteerism, working continuously with various organizations and service clubs to support causes for the betterment of Bassano and its residents. Ed married Linda McPherson in Calgary in the fall of 1971. They raised two sons, Glen and Clark, and shared 48 years together, until Linda's passing in 2019. Ed is also predeceased by his parents, Harry and Isabella Maurer; sisters Margaret Wright and Laura Sautner; brother Laurence (Sonny); and youngest son, Clark. Ed is remembered by his son Glen (Leigh), grandchildren Kyray and Kasia, brother Jim (Georgette), as well as extended family and friends. A private family inurnment will be held at the Bassano Cemetery. Memorial tributes, if friends desire, may be made directly to a local charity of your choice.
