It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Edna Killoran on August 14, 2024, at the age of 86. She died peacefully in Brooks, Alberta after bravely facing a long battle with COPD. Born on December 22, 1937, in Provost, Alberta, Edna met her husband, Orley, in Edmonton, and the couple married in 1961. They raised three children, Kelly, Carolyn, and Craig, while living in Calgary, Medicine Hat, and Turner Valley, before ultimately settling in Pincher Creek, Alberta. In 2015, after the passing of Orley, Edna moved to Brooks, to be near her daughter, Carolyn. Edna was a very creative and crafty person. Her home was filled with her creations of quilts, embroidery, knitting, and weaving, but her favorite passion was pottery. She made and sold the most beautiful pieces of pottery imaginable. Edna was also passionate about gardening and enjoyed reading books and traveling. Edna was predeceased by her husband, Orley Killoran; parents, Theodore and Ellen Nent; and sisters, Hazel Hager and Marjorie Nent. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Kelly (Neil) Paulgaard and Carolyn (Glen) Philpott; her son, Craig Killoran; her grandchildren, Pamela (Reed) Anderson, Scott and Randy Paulgaard, and Nicole and Jeremy Philpott; and her great-grandchildren, Vaughn and Zac Anderson. She is also survived by her brothers, Earl (Carol) Nent and Culver Nent, along with numerous nieces and nephews. At Edna's request, no formal funeral service will be held. Instead, a family gathering will take place at a later date. For anyone wanting to honor Edna's memory, we believe she would find it thoughtful and meaningful if you purchased a small piece of artwork from a local artist to enjoy in your home.
