It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Wayne Jacobson of Brooks, Alberta, beloved husband of Sharon Jacobson, in Lethbridge, Alberta, on Thursday, April 2nd, 2026, at the age of 78 years.  Doug was born October 21st, 1947, and raised on a farm just outside of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan.  After graduating high school, he became a mechanic and began working at the service station in town.  On July 14th, 1973, Doug married his beloved wife Sharon, and they moved to Brooks in 1974.  They lived in town for the first 4 years, until they purchased an acreage in Cassills in the fall of 1980, where they raised 4 children and all manner of livestock.  He worked at several car dealerships over the years as an automotive mechanic, and in the oil and gas sector as a heavy-duty mechanic for Nowsco, Koch Oil and GN Transportation, before opening his own shop, D&S Mechanical in the mid 1990's.  Doug was an avid hunter and sportsman, acting as President and Range Officer of the Brooks Gun Club for many years.  If he wasn't at the range, you would often find him in his shop tinkering on a project, fabricating parts for one of his steam engines or just drinking coffee with the many friends that would stop by.  Doug was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Avril Jacobson, sister Karen, and granddaughter Ashley.  He will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife Sharon; son Scott; 3 daughters, Sheryl, Lynn and Leah, and his 6 grandchildren.  As per Doug's wishes no formal services will be held.  In memory of Doug, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Brooks Animal Protection Society, Box 86, Brooks, Alberta   T1R 1B3.
