Donna May Ferguson

September 16, 1919 - August 29, 2019

Donna passed peacefully in Brooks, AB. at the age of 99.99 years.  Donna was predeceased by husband Slim of over 60 years.  Donna was born in Steveville, AB, where her late father Charles operated the ferry across the Red Deer River and her late mother Ella operated a boarding house.  She had many sisters Thelma, Grace, Cora, Phyllis and brothers Lawrence, Elmer, Les and Pat all predeceased.  They roamed the badlands, sliding down the slopes on cardboard with their bum tracks still apparent to this day.  They all helped with the chores.  Mom was responsible for the pies.  She did make great pies!  She went to school by horse and buggy.  Her older brothers took her to dances with the horse and buggy too.

Donna is survived by her son Ken (Lorraine), her daughter Bev (Herman) and her daughter Debbie (Paul), Grandson Ken Jr (Loretta), Granddaughter Cindy (Dave), Grandson Kevin (Ashley), Grandson Chris (Tawna), Grandson Dean (Joanne), Keith (Alanna), Grandson Curtis, and Granddaughter Carla (Dan) and numerous great grandchildren and even some great great grandchildren.  Donna is also survived by her brother-in-law Frank (Phyllis),  sister-in-law Kay (Pat) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donna lead an active life, loving to camp and fish, garden and prepare lovely meals for her family.  She enjoyed crocheting beautiful things for her family too.  Donna and Slim liked to have the entire family together to celebrate occasions and camping.  She played double solitaire into her 99th year (and still won often).

Funeral services to celebrate Donna's 100 year life will be held on Monday, September 16th at 10:30 AM from the Brooks United Church. Rev. Esther Crews officiating. Interment at Brooks Cemetery.

In memory of Donna, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of choice.
