Donald (Don) Schulze of Bassano, beloved husband of Shelly Prouty, passed away at the Rolling Hills Reservoir on Thursday, August 14th, 2025, at the age of 73 years. He passed away on his boat, doing what he loved. Don was born on December 30th, 1951, in Regina, Saskatchewan to Helen Selsky and Donald McLeod. Manfred Schulze adopted Don some years later. Don and his wife Shelly resided in Alhambra, Alberta for over 30 years, and for the last 2 years resided in Bassano, Alberta. Don worked in the cable industry for 40 years, earning the respect of his colleagues and clients through his dedication, work ethic and kindness. He found joy in the outdoors, especially fishing and camping with his family and friends. Don was passionate about riding his Harley, he embraced the freedom of the open road with the wind on his face and his friends by his side. He was predeceased by his biological father Donald McLeod; mother Helen Schulze, stepfather Fred Schulze and siblings Douglas and Cynthia. Don will be lovingly remembered by the love of his life, Shelly Prouty; children, Jesse and Carter Schulze and Amy Barret and her husband Adam; grandchildren, Dayten, Sayla, Romen and Cameron, sister Laurie Dorion, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, all of whom he cared for deeply. Those who had the privilege of knowing Don will remember him fondly and miss him dearly. In keeping with Don's wishes, no formal services will be held. Friends and families are encouraged to honor his memory privately and keep his spirit alive in their hearts. In memory of Don, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to Alberta Fish and Games Association, 3045 – 156th Street NW Edmonton, Alberta T5V 0A2.
