Heaven gained a beloved angel on August 18, 2025, when "Denny" Dennis John Seibel, Jr., passed away peacefully in Brooks at the age of 55, following a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. Throughout his courageous battle, he faced every challenge with resilience, dignity, and quiet strength, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and perseverance that will be remembered by all who knew him. Denny was born in Drumheller, Alberta, on August 28, 1969 to proud parents, Dennis and Mary Ann Seibel. A longtime resident of Brooks, Denny graduated from BCHS in 1987. He spent his career in the auto-parts industry, working at Snyder's Auto Wreckers, UFA, and A-1 Parts in Calgary. While he was dedicated to his work, his proudest accomplishment was Kranks Gourmet, a creative venture that reflected his passion and ingenuity. Denny lived a life with many interests. He loved both sports and the arts—playing and watching hockey, drawing, music, carpentry, and gardening. He had a deep connection to nature, often finding peace in the mountains or in quiet moments outdoors, contemplating and appreciating the beauty around him. Denny would often record his deep and profound thoughts through his writing. Most recently, his e-bike became a joy, giving him the independence he cherished and the ability to venture outdoors. A skilled hockey player in Brooks Minor Hockey, he was known for his talent and quiet confidence. It was not unusual for him to score three to five goals a game and to walk away with the MVP award multiple times in a single weekend tournament—always with humility. He was also proud to be part of the Crude Dudes Hockey Organization. Beyond the rink, he was a passionate Calgary Flames and Toronto Blue Jays fan, rarely missing a game. Those who knew Denny will remember him for his quiet strength, humility, and selfless nature. He was reflective and thoughtful, yet known for his quick wit and sharp sense of humor. Independent and resilient, creative and meticulous, he had the rare ability to truly observe the world around him. Though quiet in demeanor, his kindness, and honesty spoke volumes. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Denny leaves behind his loving parents, Mary Ann and Dennis Seibel; siblings, Shelly (Richard) Deunk, Paulette (Rob) Bartusek, Lisa Jeffrey, and Brian (Lindsay) Seibel. Denny loved his nieces and nephews Chad (Lacey) Deunk, Brent (Kolbi) Deunk, Kaitlyn Deunk (Adam), Josh (Janessa) Bartusek, Jordan (Jenna) Bartusek, Jade Bartusek (Ricky), Taylor Jeffrey, Sydney (Matt) Wong, Alysia Jeffrey (Brandon), Mason (Heidi), Brynley, and Tatum Seibel. Great nieces and nephews include Livi, Leni, Mila, Eliana, Liam, Landyn, and Reece. Denny was predeceased by his cousin Brent Rosen (May 1988) and brother-in-law Allen Jeffrey (May 2024). Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Brooks on Friday, August 22 at 2:00 PM. Rev. John Theiss and Pastor Maggie Theiss officiating. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery. During his cancer journey, Denny found support and community through Wellspring, an organization that meant so much to him and his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to support Brian Seibel, Denny's little brother, as he rides 50 km in the Cancervive Ride for Wellspring Alberta, raising funds to provide free programs and resources for those living with cancer and their caregivers.
