David Henry Sheard of Brooks, passed away in Brooks on Thursday, August 5 th , 2021 at the age of 86 years. He was born in Rockglen, Saskatchewan on January 31 st , 1935 the first child born to John and Mary Sheard. David spent his childhood on the farm with his parents and grandparents helping with chores and farming. His schooling was completed in Rockglen, after his parents moved to town to make sure all their kids received an education. David would become the oldest of 13 children. During summer holidays he worked with his dad on the CPR Rail line and once school was completed, he moved around the country. He spent time in Winnipeg, Manitoba with relatives, and then to Ontario to be with family also. David was trained in Male Nursing, Heavy Duty Mechanics and Business Management. He later moved to Thompson, Manitoba to the INCO Mine, where he spent the remainder of his working career. David was an avid bowler in both 5 and 10 pin. His love for the game won him many trophies, plaques and certificates of excellence. Because of his love for the game, David became certified as a coach for YBC. He also had a love for curling, and spent many hours at the Brooks Curling Rink. He also love to sit and play cribbage games, along with a beer at the Brooks Legion every Thursday. David moved to Brooks in the early 90's and retired. He became an avid traveler and spent time in Hawaii every winter, where he made many lifelong friendships. David later became a frequent passenger on the Pacific Princess Cruise Line and collected many souvenirs in his travels. When he was not travelling David volunteered with AHS Volunteers and became the Bingo caller at the Brooks Nursing Home and absolutely enjoyed it. He was also a member of the Royal Order of the Elks #471 Thompson Lodge. David always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Sheard; sisters, Hilda Main and her husband Bruce, Audrey Thomlinson, Ann Batty, Florence Crashley and Rosemary Sanderson; brother John Sheard and brother-in-law John Hamilton. David is survived by 2 brothers, Ted (Linda) Sheard of Regina and Archie (Delores) Sheard of Saskatoon; 4 sisters, Margaret (Clifford) LeCaine of Brooks, Betty (Norman) Jack of Manitoba, Kathy Hamilton of Ontario and Joan (Harry) Sturgio of Calgary; many nieces and nephews and his one special niece Caroline Kerr, who looked after him for the past 2 years. Thank you to the staff on 2nd floor of Sunrise Gardens who were all so kind to us during David's illness and taking great care of him. A Family service will be held at a later date.
