It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Carolyn Ann Ellik on Monday, August 21 st , 2017 at the age of 71 years.  She passed away peacefully in the Brooks Health Centre, after a lengthy illness that ravaged her lungs.  Carolyn was born in Brooks, September 28 th , 1945 to Evelyn Landon.  She was adopted in 1946 by her mother's sister and husband, Marjorie and Carl, after a terrible fire that destroyed her mother and grandmothers house.  Evelyn never recovered from the burns she sustained in the fire.  She has lived and worked in Brooks her entire life, working at the Nalley's Chip Factory, various grocery stores, Ellik's Jewellery and later starting C&C Painting. Carolyn loved to play many sports, ladies baseball, crib, and mostly ladies curling bonspiels. She was married to Henry Horkoff in 1965, and was later divorced.  She was a member of the Royal Purple, The Royal Canadian Legion, both Branch and Ladies Auxiliary.  Carolyn was predeceased by her bio mother, Evelyn, her father, Carl Ellik, her grandmother Ida Boyer and her mother Marjorie Ellik Stewart.  Left to love and remember her, daughter Carlyn Perry (Ron), granddaughters Brandi Perry and Darcie Perry (Jay), great grandson, Ryder Armishaw, all of Brooks; brother, Cameron Ellik (Janice) of Cold Lake Alberta; sister, Eileen Larsen (Scott) of Meridian, Idaho.  She loved all of her four-legged friends she had during her life, and leaving also to morn is her companion Dozer.  We would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Brooks Health Center, Dr. Vandeemeer, Dr. Foschee and Dr. Muller for all the care shown to Carolyn during her stays there.  A Celebration of Life will be held at the EID Legion on Thursday, September 28 th at 2:00 PM.  Interment at Brooks Cemetery.  In memory of Carolyn, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to STARS, Suite 100, 1519 – 35 th Avenue East, Edmonton International Airport   T9E 0V6.

Cremation is entrusted to Smith Funeral Home Ltd. and Crematorium, Brooks.
