It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bruce Kendall Tiegs, beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. Bruce passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025 in the Brooks Health Centre, surrounded by family after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 70 years. Born on November 19, 1954, to Barbara and Ken Tiegs in Brooks, Alberta. Bruce was predeceased by his father, Ken Tiegs. He is survived by his cherished daughter, Shelby, son-in-law Niel and two granddaughters, Kamryn and Teagan. He is also remembered fondly by his mother, Barbara; sisters, Linda (Dale) and Elaine (Lonnie) and brother Bob (Sandra). Bruce spent most of his early life on the family dairy farm on the outskirts of Brooks, where he engaged in the daily chores of farm life and enjoyed the simple pleasures of rural youth. He cherished memories of swimming in the canal, shooting gophers, and participating in air cadets. Inspired by his father's love of flying, Bruce earned his private pilot's license at the young age of 18. Bruce had a strong entrepreneurial spirit. He worked diligently for Joyline Transport, moving rigs and hauling pipe all over the region. He was involved in various business ventures, eventually finding his niche in acquiring his mobile crane ticket and founding Custom Cranes Ltd. Bruce proudly sold Custom Cranes, retiring to the ski slopes of Kimberley, B.C., before moving to the warmer climate of Osoyoos. Bruce had many hobbies that he enjoyed with friends and his daughter that included traveling, skiing, savoring fine wines, driving fast cars, and collecting unique items. Bruce enjoyed fly fishing and deep-sea fishing, fondly remembering a trip to Vancouver Island with Niel, before the birth of his first granddaughter. In recent years, he cherished spending most of his time back in Brooks with his family. He learned to love camping and enjoyed it the most with his granddaughters, Kamryn and Teagan. Following Bruce's wishes, there will be no funeral service. The family will hold a private Celebration of Life. A special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Brooks Health Centre for their care and compassion. If desired, donations in Bruce's memory can be made directly to the Brooks and District Health Foundation, Bag 300, Brooks, Alberta   T1R 1B3. Bruce's legacy of hard work, love for family, and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
