With heavy hearts, we share the sad news that on Friday, September 17 th , 2021, Charles William Johnston (Billy) tragically and unexpectedly passed away at the age of 33 years old. Billy was born in Brooks, Alberta on August 30 th , 1988, to Paul and Catherine. As a boy in Brooks, Billy participated in many sports such as soccer, badminton and track and field, and he was also a part of the Brooks boxing club for several years. Then as a young man, he lived in Calgary, Alberta doing construction and living and working in the Consort, Alberta area, where he worked on a service rig and ran a boiler for several winters. Billy was always known as a hard worker and dedicated employee. In his hometown of Brooks is where Billy eventually settled and fell in love with his wonderful wife, Rebecca Berg. After a few years together, Billy and Becca bought a home in Brooks and were married on August 30 th , 2017, in Las Vegas. On November 25 th , 2019, Billy found his true calling as a father, when Rori May Pearl Johnston was introduced to the world. Always a loving and attentive father, Billy spent as much time with Rori as possible. Billy also was a devoted New England Patriots fan, an avid hunter, and lover of animals, with a great love of his dogs, Loki and Copper and his cats, Blaze and Ralph. Billy will be remembered as an excellent husband and a loyal friend, and he will be greatly missed by all that were fortunate enough to meet him. Survived by his beloved wife Rebecca Johnston and their precious daughter Rori Johnston; parents, Paul Johnston (Peggy) and Catherine Levy (Douglas); sister Candace Waldner (Curtis); stepbrothers, Brody, Deston Ethier and Steven; stepsister Sarah Levy; mother-in-law Della Berg; sister-in-law Stephanie Berg (BJ) and his many aunts, uncles and cousins from British Columbia to Newfoundland. Billy was predeceased by his grandparents, Pearl and Kevin Johnston, Isabel and Bill Wood, and his father-in-law Barry Berg. A service to honour the life of Billy will take place on October 1 st , 2021, at 192018 Range Road 135, Millicent AB T0J 2A0 at 3:00 pm. It will be an outdoor Celebration of Life, so dress accordingly.
