Basil Steward Collicott of Brooks, beloved husband of Lena Collicott, passed away at home on Monday, April 5 th , 2021 at the age of 84 years. Basil was born on February 10 th , 1937 in Dow Settlement, New Brunswick to Allan and Lila Collicott, the 5 th of 11 siblings. He married Lena Grant on August 10 th , 1968 in Meductic, New Brunswick. Together they lived in Nasonworth, New Brunswick for over 30 years, where he worked a number of different jobs. Basil worked as a cleaner at the University of New Brunswick, a job that allowed him to "clean up after the world", as there were students attending the University from all around the globe. Basil was an active member of the Nasonworth Pentecostal Church, now called the Church of Motion, where he was involved in the construction of the Church and parsonage. He and Lena eventually moved to Brooks to be closer to their son Brad. Basil's family and friends will fondly remember him for his sense of humor, willingness to help others in need and his kind and gentle heart. He had a great love for his wife Lena, his sons and grandchildren. Basil enjoyed gardening, flowers and fruit and had a love for animals, especially horses. He also loved travelling, especially trips to Prince Edward Island with special friends Lynda and Emmet Handrahand. Basil was predeceased by parents, Allan and Lila Collicott; infant grandson Colby M. Collicott; siblings, Aulden Collicott and his wife Brenda, Lloyd Collicott, Irma Mills and her husband Ralph, Grace Ferrell and her husband Nellis Farrell and Winnifred Keilty. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lena; sons, Brad Collicott of Brooks and Basil Collicott and his wife Frieda of Gold River, Nova Scotia; grandchildren, Jacob and Jenna Collicott of Gold River and Kristen Arthurs and her husband Kevin of New Germany, Nova Scotia; great grandchildren, Jace, Everest and Seth Arthurs of New Germany; siblings, Barbara Lyons of Jacksonville, New Brunswick, Lona McElroy and her husband John, Lois Furrow, Linda Shannon, Arlene Whyte and her husband Ken, Neil Collicott and his wife Bonnie, Benton and all of Woodstock, New Brunswick; sister-in-law Louise Collicott of Woodstock and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to thank the Brooks Home Care staff for the wonderful care that was given to Basil in the last 2 years. A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of Motion in Nasonworth, New Brunswick at a later date. Rev. George Nixon officiating. In memory of Basil, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Prairie Rose Palliative Care Society, Bag 300, Brooks, Alberta   T1R 1B3.
