It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Allan Wayne Schickerowski of Brooks, Alberta, beloved husband of Pat Schickerowski, on Friday, January 3rd, 2025, at the age of 77 years. Allan was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, on September 25th, 1947 and later moved to Bashaw, Alberta. He relocated to Calgary, Alberta, where he met the love of his life, Caroline Patricia Cherlerko, at a York Hotel dance. Allan and Pat celebrated 51 years of marriage and raised three children. Allan was a Millwright/Welder by trade and started his career with Canadian Pacific Railway. Throughout his career, he worked for Canada Malting, Bradon Industries and retired from Hood Packaging. Allan was an avid hunter and fisherman. For him, there was no greater pleasure than hunting with his son and grandchildren or going for a day of fishing with good friends. He was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, where he competed in darts, crib and other activities and he also enjoyed crib tournaments at the Prairie Pioneers Club in Brooks. Allan was also a long-standing member of the Junior Forest Wardens, where he loved to cook and was affectionately known as "Cooky" by everyone. He was predeceased by his daughter Charlene, granddaughters Aspyn and Madison, parents Godfred and Hilda, sister Margaret (Margie) and brother Roy. Allan is survived by his loving wife Pat, son Wayne (Sherry), granddaughter Sydney, grandson Tristan, sister Beatrice (Bea), brothers-in-law Melvin (Denise) and Dwayne (Melony) and numerous extended family and friends. The family would like to thank the doctors, hospital personnel and the nursing staff at Brooks Health Centre for their excellent care and compassion towards Allan. Allan will be greatly missed by all those that loved him. A private Celebration of Life was held on Friday, January 10th from Prairie Pioneers Club in Brooks. In memory of Allan, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to a Charity of Choice.
