Agnes Slomp of Brooks, Alberta went home to her Savior, joining her husband in Glory on Wednesday March 11th, 2026, at the age of 95. Agnes was born in Opperdoes, The Netherlands on February 5th, 1931 to Klaas and Alice Visser. She grew up with six siblings and enjoyed sharing many stories of her school day and sibling escapades. WW II was difficult and after it ended her family decided to immigrate to Canada, arriving in Quebec May 9th, 1949. The family settled in Taber, Alberta. Agnes met John Slomp at Young Peoples, and they were married on March 17th, 1955. They worked on a farm near Duchess before settling in the One Tree area near Brooks. She was not only active raising eight children but helped on the farm as well. Their faith life was important, and the family attended Brooks Christian Reformed Church. She had many stories of going to ladies' gatherings. She had the privilege of often traveling to the Netherlands and other locations. including a memorable trip with her sisters and mother. They moved off the farm into Brooks in 1993 and resided in Eastbrook. In retirement she golfed and took up curling, treasuring the medals she won. Through these activities, she made many friends with whom she went for coffee and Friday breakfasts at A&W. During her life she spent many hours volunteering and was loved by many. In 2018 John and Agnes moved into Orchard Manor, where she stayed until her final months in Long Term Care at the Brooks Health Centre. Agnes was predeceased by her husband John in 2019, her brothers, Klaas and Morris and her parents Klaas and Alice Visser.
