Aganetha Mikalson, beloved wife of the late Wayne Mikalson, passed away peacefully in the Bassano Hospital, with her family close to her, on Friday September 11, 2026 at the age of 83 years.
Agnes is survived by her loving daughters, Glenda (Tim) of Calgary and their children Jordan and Mitch; Wendy (Lance) of Didsbury and their boys Chris and Kyle; and Darla (Steve) Salmon of Langdon. She will also be remembered by her sister Kathy Oldland of Lethbridge and sister Mary (Ernie) Zuba of Lethbridge. She is also survived by Wayne’s family, sister Brenda (Terry) Rombough of Taber, brother Bill (Karen) Mikalson of Coaldale, sister- In- law Judy Mikalson of Wetaskawin, and sister- in- law Kim Miklason of Red Cliff, as well as 14 nieces and 8 nephews.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband Wayne Mikalson; parents Mary and Jacob Enns; sister Helen Currence and brother Jake. She was also predeceased by Wayne’s parents Birger and Regina Mikalson; Wayne’s brothers Gary, Clarence and Ivan, as well as 2 nephews.
Agnes was born in Coaldale, Alberta on November 17, 1942. She was the third child and grew up on an irrigation farm west of Vauxhall, Alberta. She went to school in Vauxhall and to Calgary for Nursing Aide School in 1962 and she graduated in 1963. After graduation she worked in the Medicine Hat General Hospital for a year and half. While working she met Wayne and on November 7, 1964 they were married in Vauxhall. After that they had their family. Over the years she lived in Coaldale, Rosemary, Calgary and then on an Acreage outside of Bassano, which is where she lived until her passing.
Mom (Agnes) loved to go with Dad (Wayne) to work all the time. She also enjoyed living on the acreage growing a huge garden and canning and baking. She shared everything she made with everyone.
Her Celebration of Life will be a small family grave side service in Bassano.
